Des Jüngers Andreas Rede von den Werken und Worten des Herrn

Der Herr spricht:

1. Das machte unsere Heidenpriester vor lauter Verwunderung über Verwunderung ganz stumm; denn sie merkten es jetzt erst ganz klar, wen sie in Mir vor sich hatten.

2. Auch unser Wirt, der auch bei uns war, wurde, obschon er am Abend das grosse Heilungszeichen von Mir gewirkt sah und höchst bewunderte, auf dies Morgenzeichen erst ganz dahin überzeugt, dass Ich nicht wie irgendein grosser Prophet erfüllt mit dem Geiste aus Gott, sondern ganz selbständig aus eigener Macht und Kraft handle und wirke und sagte darum denn auch zum Hauptmanne, der mit den Seinen selbst voll des höchsten Staunens dastand: „Hoher Gebieter, dieser Mann ist kein Mensch, der mit der Hilfe des einen, allein wahren Gottes der Juden solche nie erhörten Zeichen wirkt, sondern in Ihm wohnt die ganze, ewig endlose Fülle der Gottheit sichtbar vor uns körperlich! Denn Er sagte: ,Ich will es!‘ und nicht: ,Gott hat also zu Mir geredet, und dies und jenes, dass es geschehe und werde‘!“

3. Sagte der Hauptmann zum Wirte: „Freund, das weiss ich schon von Pella aus, dahin Er kam und auch also lehrte und grosse Zeichen wirkte wie hier; doch ein solches Zeichen wie dieses habe ich selbst noch nicht gesehen, obschon diesem ähnliche mehrere, die mir nur zu klar und zu laut sagten: ,Siehe, das ist wundersamstermassen der Herr Selbst!‘

4. Er sagt freilich wohl: ,Ich bin vom Vater in diese Welt gesandt!‘, doch Er ist eben Derjenige, der Sich Selbst durch Seine Liebe zu uns Menschen in diese Welt gesandt hat, um uns fürderhin kein unsichtbarer und unbegreiflicher Gott und Vater, sondern ein wohl sichtbarer und begreiflicher zu sein, und dass wir in der Folge lebendig glauben können, dass eben Er ein allein wahrer Gott ist und es ausser Ihm keinen andern Gott und Herrn gibt und geben kann.

5. In Ihm wohnt das Ursein alles Seins, die Urkraft aller Kräfte, die Urmacht aller Mächte, das klarste Seiner- Selbst-Bewusstsein alles Bewusstseins aller Kreaturen in der ganzen ewigen Unendlichkeit, die erfüllt ist von Seinen Werken, und also wohnt in Ihm denn auch die höchste und nie erforschbare Weisheit. Und siehe, dieses alles glaube ich nicht nur, wie ein Mensch gewöhnlich irgendeine vernommene Wahrheit zu glauben pflegt, aber neben solchem Glauben mit seinem Verstande doch noch nachforscht und grübelt, ob die vernommene grosse Wahrheit wohl auch in allen ihren teilweisen Beziehungen völlig wahr sei, und wie man sich davon vollkommen überzeugen könne, sondern ich bin von all dem vollkommenst und lebendigst überzeugt und bin bereit, für solch meine vollste und lebendigste Überzeugung mein Leben hinzugeben!“

6. Sagte der Wirt: „Hoher Gebieter, so tief wie du kann ich in dies hochheiligste Geheimnis noch nicht eingeweiht sein; aber ich glaube nun alles ungezweifelt, was du nun ausgesprochen hast, und hoffe, dass auch mir und meinem ganzen Hause von all dem die lebendigste Überzeugung werden wird! Darum alle Ehre und Liebe nun dem einen, sichtbaren Gott vor uns!“

7. Ebenso wie der Hauptmann und der Wirt besprachen sich auch die Priester und auch die Jünger untereinander.

8. Und ein Priester ging zu einem Jünger hin und befragte ihn, ob Ich solche Zeichen schon zu öfteren Malen gewirkt hätte.

9. Sagte der Jünger: „Ziehe hin in alle Orte von ganz Galiläa, von Judäa, von Samaria und noch andern Ländern im Süden und Norden und von Osten nach Westen, und forsche, und man wird dir sagen und zeigen, was der Herr gewirkt hat!

10. Zeichen, wie dieses hier, sind viele gewirkt worden, und es sind alle Länder, die wir mit Ihm durchwandert haben, voll von Seinen Taten und voll von Seiner Ehre; denn Er ist es, der Seinesgleichen nicht hat weder im Himmel noch auf Erden. Aber Er will es nicht, dass wir viel reden von den grossen Zeichen, die Er zur Bekräftigung der Wahrheit Seiner euch nun schon in den Hauptteilen bekannten Lehre gewirkt hat. Denn die Zeichen werden veralten und mit der Zeit also vergehen, wie auf dieser Welt alles vergänglich und wandelbar ist, und so man nach vielen Jahren davon reden wird, so werden die Menschen es nicht glauben und nicht fassen; aber Seine Worte werden nicht vergehen, sondern ewig als die Wahrheit aller Wahrheit bleiben in allen Himmeln und auf der ganzen Erde und in der grossen Welt der Geister!

11. Er will demnach nur, dass dieses von Ihm aus den Himmeln in diese Welt gebrachte Lebenswort allen Menschen gepredigt werde und sie an Ihn den lebendigen Glauben überkommen durch das Handeln nach dem Worte.

12. Werden die Menschen das, so werden sie durch Ihn schon also geweckt und gestärkt werden, dass sie in Seinem Namen selbst Zeichen wirken werden, wie auch wir schon in Seinem Namen gar manche Zeichen gewirkt haben, indem wir allerlei Kranken die Hände auflegten und sie darauf vollkommen gesund geworden sind. Euch selbst wird dieses Zeichen erst dann zum Nutzen werden, so ihr nach Seiner Lehre leben und handeln werdet.

13. Es ist aber ein solches Zeichen wohl als ein übergrosses Wunder anzusehen, so die Menschen, die davon persönlich Zeugen waren, über die Wesenheit des Zeichenwirkers noch nicht hinlänglich im klaren waren; haben aber die Menschen den Zeichenwirker einmal in Seiner Wesenheit erkannt, dann ist das gewirkte Zeichen an und für sich kein Wunder mehr, denn sie sehen es ja ein, dass Gott, dem ewig Allmächtigen, kein Ding unmöglich ist.

14. Was ist diese Erde denn anders als des Herrn Wort und Wille aus Seiner Liebe und Weisheit? Was sind der Mond, die Sonne und alle die zahllosen Sterne mit all dem, was sie tragen und fassen, indem sie – wie wir es genauest wissen – auch Weltkörper sind, und die meisten, die wir mit unseren Augen erschauen können, ums unvergleichbare grösser denn diese Erde, die uns trägt und nährt?

15. So es Gott dem Herrn von Ewigkeit aber sicher möglich ist, solche grossen Werke auch nur durch Seinen Willen entweder augenblicklich oder nach Seiner Liebe und Weisheit in gewissen Zeitperioden ins Dasein zu rufen, so ist es Ihm ja auch ebenso leicht möglich, durch Sein Wort und Seinen Willen einen kleinen Fleck der kahlen Erde mit fettem Erdreich zu überdecken und dasselbe nach seiner Art also zu befruchten, wie es die Beschaffenheit des Landes erfordert nach der von Ihm festgestellten Ordnung.

16. Wenn ihr sonst sehr verständigen und mit vielen Erfahrungen wohlversehenen Römer das ganz leicht einsehen und begreifen könnt, so werdet ihr es auch einsehen und begreifen, dass die nun vom Herrn gewirkten Zeichen nicht die Hauptsache für uns Menschen sind, sondern Sein Wort und Seine Lehre, die uns den Weg zum ewigen Leben zeigt. Das Wort aus dem Munde Gottes ist demnach für uns alles in allem, und wir werden sein und leben durch dasselbe ewig und dort sein, wo Er ist, und wirken durch Sein Wort und durch Seinen Willen in uns.“

17. Als der Priester solches von dem Jünger vernommen hatte, da sagte er: „Freund, du bist in der rechten Weisheit aus Gott schon weit vorgedrungen, und mich nimmt es nun nicht wunder, dass ihr alten Jünger des Herrn euch nach dem gewirkten, unerhört grossen Wunderzeichen um vieles gleichgültiger benommen habt als wir Heiden! Aber was du mir nun gesagt hast, werde ich eben also behalten, als hätte es mir der Herr Selbst gesagt, und ich danke dir für deine Freundschaft und Geduld.“

18. Darauf ging der Priester wieder zu seinen Kollegen und besprach sich mit ihnen über das, was er von dem Jünger, der Andreas hiess, vernommen hatte.

The disciple Andrew speaks about the works and the words of the Lord

The Lord says:

1. That left our gentile priests completely speechless from sheer amazement upon amazement, for only now they realized clearly who the One was within Me, standing before them.

2. Even though our innkeeper, who was with us, saw the great healing sign that I performed the evening before and about which he was quite amazed, it was only after the sign of this morning that he was convinced that I was not merely a great prophet acting and working with the Spirit out of God, but entirely independent, out of My own might and power. So he said to the captain who too was watching in astonishment with his companions: “High commander, this Man is not a mere human being performing these unheard-of signs with the help of the one and only true God of the Jews, but within Him dwelles physically, visible before us, the whole, eternal, endless fullness of the Divinity. For He said: ‘I want it!’ and not: ‘This is what God spoke to Me, and this or that must occur and exist.”

3. The captain said to the innkeeper: “Friend, I already knew that since Pella, where He also taught and performed great signs like here, but I had never seen a sign like this before, though a few that resembled it and which loudly and clearly proclaimed to me: ‘Behold, this is, in a most wonderful way, the Lord Himself.’

4. He certainly says: ‘I was sent by the Father into this world,’ but He is the One who sent Himself by His love for us men into this world, to be from now on not an invisible or incomprehensible God and Father to us, but a visible and understandable one, so that, in the future, we may truly believe that He is the only true God and that no other God or Lord exists or could exist apart from Him.

5. Within Him lives the primordial being of all existence, the original power of all powers, the original might of all mights, the clearest self-consciousness of all the consciousness of all the creatures of eternal infinity that is brimming with His works. And so, within Him lives the highest and eternally unfathomable wisdom. And see, all this I do not only believe as a person commonly believes a truth he had heard, because apart from the fact that he believes it, he still investigates it with his mind and wonders if said great truth will be complete when it is entirely connected with all its separate aspects and how one could be completely convinced of it. Yet I am completely convinced of all those things, and I am prepared to give my life for this perfect and deep conviction!”

6. The innkeeper said: “High commander, I still cannot be as deeply initiated as you are in this holy mystery, but I believe now, without a shadow of a doubt, everything that you have said just now, and I hope that I too and my whole house will be fully convinced. Therefore, all honor and love to the one, visible God before us!”

7. As the captain and the innkeeper spoke, so too spoke the priests and the disciples amongst themselves.

8. A priest went to a disciple and asked him if I performed such signs often.

9. The disciple said: “Travel across the whole of Galilee, Judea, Samaria and still other regions in the south and north, and from the east to the west, and investigate there, and they will tell and show you what the Lord has done!

10. Many signs like this here were performed, and all the places we passed through together with Him are full of His deeds and His honor, for no one is like Him, neither in Heaven nor on Earth. But He does not want us to speak much of the great signs He performed to confirm the truth of His teaching, of which you already know the main points now, for the signs will grow old and perish in the future, as everything is perishable and changeable in this world, and after many years, when they will talk of these wonders, the people will not believe it, unable to grasp it. But His words will not perish, existing eternally as the truth of all truths in all the Heavens, on the whole Earth and in the great world of the spirits.

11. So, He wishes only that this word of life, brought down from the Heavens to this world, be proclaimed to all men, that they would receive the living faith in Him by acting according to this word.

12. Should the people do so, they will be awakened and strengthened by Him in such a way that, in His name, they will perform signs themselves as we have already performed as well, many signs in His name, by laying our hands upon all manner of sick people, and thereby was their health returned to them. This sign will only be useful to you if you will live and act according to His teaching.

13. Such a sign may be considered an exceptionally great miracle if the people who personally witnessed it did not really know who the One who performed the sign is, but once the people have recognized Him, the sign as such is no more a miracle, for then they will realize that for God, the eternal almighty One, nothing is impossible.

14. What is this Earth except the word and the will of the Lord out of His love and wisdom? What are the moon, the sun and all the countless stars with everything they carry and contain, while they are – as we know for sure – also celestial bodies, most of which, those that we can see with our own eyes anyway, are incomparably larger than this Earth that carries and feeds us?

15. If it is possible for God, the Lord of eternity, to bring such great works to life by His will alone, be it in a single moment or, based on His love and wisdom, throughout longer periods of time, then it would be just as simple for Him to cover a small patch of barren earth with rich soil by His word and will, and have fruits grown upon it according to its nature, as the condition of the land requires according to the order that was established by Him.

16. You Romans, who are quite intelligent and have much experience, may easily realize and understand this, and so too will you realize and understand that it is not the signs that the Lord performs that are of greatest interest to us men, but rather His Word and teaching that reveals to us the way to eternal life. The word from God’s mouth is therefore all in all to us. Thereby will we exist and live eternally, and we will be where He is, and we will perform works by His word and will within us!”

17. As the priest heard this from the disciple, he said: “Friend, you are already far advanced in the wisdom of God, and now I am not surprised that you, the old disciples of the Lord, were much less surprised than we gentiles after witnessing this unheard-of great miracle. But what you told me now I will remember as if the Lord Himself had told me, and I thank you for your friendship and patience.”

18. Following this exchange, the priest returned to his colleagues and spoke with them of what he had heard from the disciple, whose name is Andrew.

ศิษย์อันดรูว์พูดถึงพระราชกิจ
และพระวจนะขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า

พระเจ้าตรัสว่า:
1.เหตุการณ์นั้นทำให้บรรดา
ปุโรหิตต่างชาติของเราถึงกับ
พูดไม่ออก เพราะความอัศจรรย์
ซ้อนอัศจรรย์ที่ได้เห็น เพราะ
เพิ่งในขณะนั้นเอง พวกเขา
จึงตระหนักอย่างแจ่มชัดว่า
“องค์ผู้ทรงอยู่ภายในเรา”
ผู้ยืนอยู่ต่อหน้าพวกเขา
คือใคร

2. แม้ว่าเจ้าของโรงแรม
ผู้ร่วมทางกับเราจะได้เห็น
หมายสำคัญแห่งการรักษา
อันยิ่งใหญ่ที่เราได้กระทำ
เมื่อคืนก่อน และเขาก็รู้สึก
ทึ่งเป็นอย่างมาก แต่เพิ่ง
หลังจากหมายสำคัญของ
เช้าวันนี้ เขาจึงได้เชื่อมั่น
ว่า เรามิใช่เพียงผู้เผยพระวจนะ
ผู้ยิ่งใหญ่ที่ทำงานด้วย
พระวิญญาณจากพระเจ้า
เท่านั้น แต่เป็นผู้ทรงฤทธานุภาพ
โดยลำพัง จากอำนาจและ
กำลังของเราเอง ดังนั้นเขา
จึงกล่าวกับนายทหารผู้บัญชาการ
ซึ่งก็กำลังเฝ้ามองด้วยความ
ประหลาดใจกับพวกพ้องของเขา
เช่นกันว่า “ท่านผู้บัญชาการ
สูงสุด บุรุษผู้นี้มิใช่มนุษย์ธรรมดา
ผู้ทำหมายสำคัญที่ไม่เคยมีใคร
ได้ยินมาก่อน โดยอาศัยพระเจ้า
ของยิวเพียงผู้เดียวเท่านั้น แต่
ภายในพระองค์ทรงสถิตอยู่
โดยกายภาพ และมองเห็น
ได้ชัดต่อหน้าเรา นั่นคือความ
บริบูรณ์ทั้งสิ้น อันนิรันดร์และ
ไร้ขอบเขตของพระเทวภาพ
เพราะพระองค์ตรัสว่า ‘เรา
ประสงค์เช่นนั้น!’ มิใช่ว่า
‘นี่คือสิ่งที่พระเจ้าตรัสแก่เรา
และสิ่งนั้นสิ่งนี้จะต้องเกิดขึ้น
และดำรงอยู่’”

3.นายทหารผู้บัญชาการกล่าว
กับเจ้าของโรงแรมว่า “สหายเอ๋ย
เรารู้อยู่แล้วตั้งแต่ที่เมืองเปลลา
ที่ซึ่งพระองค์ทรงสั่งสอนและ
กระทำหมายสำคัญอันยิ่งใหญ่
เหมือนดังที่นี่ แต่เราไม่เคย
เห็นหมายสำคัญเช่นนี้มาก่อน
แม้ว่าจะมีบางสิ่งคล้ายคลึง
กันอยู่บ้างซึ่งได้ประกาศแก่
เราอย่างชัดเจนว่า ‘นี่แหละ
คือองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าเอง
ในวิธีการที่อัศจรรย์ที่สุด’”

4.พระองค์ตรัสอย่างแน่นอนว่า
‘เราถูกส่งโดยพระบิดามาใน
โลกนี้’ แต่แท้จริงแล้ว พระองค์
คือผู้ที่ทรงส่งพระองค์เองมา
ในโลกนี้ด้วยความรักต่อมนุษย์
ทั้งหลาย เพื่อว่า นับจากนี้ไป
พระองค์จะไม่เป็นพระเจ้าและ
พระบิดาผู้เร้นกายหรือไม่อาจ
เข้าใจได้สำหรับเราอีกต่อไป
แต่จะเป็นองค์ที่มองเห็นและ
เข้าใจได้ เพื่อว่าในอนาคต
เราจะได้เชื่ออย่างแท้จริงว่า
พระองค์ทรงเป็นพระเจ้าเพียง
ผู้เดียวที่แท้จริง และจะไม่มี
พระเจ้าอื่นหรือองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า
อื่นใดดำรงอยู่หรืออาจดำรง
อยู่ได้เลย นอกจากพระองค์
เท่านั้น

5.ภายในพระองค์มีชีวิตแห่ง
ภาวะดั้งเดิมของการทรงดำรง
อยู่ทั้งปวง คือฤทธิ์อำนาจแรก
แห่งอำนาจทั้งหลาย คือกำลัง
แรกแห่งกำลังทั้งสิ้น คือความ
สำนึกรู้แห่งตนที่ชัดเจนที่สุด
เหนือกว่าความสำนึกรู้ทั้งหมด
ของสิ่งทรงสร้างทั้งปวงใน
นิรันดร์กาล ซึ่งล้นด้วย
พระราชกิจของพระองค์ และ
ดังนั้น ภายในพระองค์ยัง
ดำรงชีวิตอยู่ด้วยพระปรีชา
สูงสุด อันหยั่งไม่ถึงชั่วนิรันดร์
และดูเถิด สิ่งเหล่านี้ทั้งสิ้น
ข้าพเจ้ามิได้เชื่อเพียงอย่างที่
คนทั่วไปเชื่อในความจริงที่
ได้ยินมา เพราะนอกเหนือจาก
ความเชื่อ เขายังต้องค้นคว้า
ด้วยสติปัญญาของตน และตั้ง
คำถามว่าความจริงอันยิ่งใหญ่
นี้จะครบถ้วนหรือไม่เมื่อถูก
เชื่อมโยงเข้าด้วยกันทุกแง่มุม
และจะมั่นใจได้อย่างไรอย่าง
สมบูรณ์ แต่กระนั้น ข้าพเจ้ามั่นใจ
อย่างเต็มเปี่ยมในสิ่งเหล่านี้
และข้าพเจ้าพร้อมจะมอบชีวิต
เพื่อความเชื่อมั่นที่สมบูรณ์และ
ลึกซึ้งนี้!”

6.เจ้าของโรงแรมกล่าวว่า
“ท่านผู้บัญชาการสูงสุด ข้ายัง
ไม่อาจเข้าถึงความลึกลับอัน
ศักดิ์สิทธิ์นี้ได้ลึกซึ้งเท่าท่าน
แต่บัดนี้ข้าเชื่อแล้ว โดย
ปราศจากเงาแห่งความสงสัย
ต่อสิ่งที่ท่านกล่าวทั้งหมด
และข้าหวังว่าข้าเองและทั้ง
ครอบครัวของข้าจะได้เชื่อมั่น
อย่างเต็มเปี่ยมเช่นกัน ดังนั้น
ขอถวายเกียรติและความรัก
ทั้งสิ้นแด่องค์พระเจ้าเพียง
ผู้เดียว ผู้ทรงสำแดงพระองค์
อย่างแจ่มชัดต่อหน้าเรา!”

7.เมื่อผู้บัญชาการและเจ้าของ
โรงแรมสนทนากัน บรรดาปุโรหิต
และเหล่าสาวกก็ต่างสนทนา
กันเองเช่นกัน

8.ปุโรหิตผู้หนึ่งเข้าไปหาสาวก
และถามเขาว่า เรามักจะทรง
กระทำหมายสำคัญเช่นนี้บ่อย ๆ
หรือไม่

9.สาวกตอบว่า “จงเดินทางไป
ทั่วแคว้นกาลิลี ยูเดีย สะมาเรีย
และดินแดนอื่น ๆ ทั้งทางใต้และ
เหนือ ตลอดจนตะวันออกและ
ตะวันตก แล้วค้นคว้าที่นั่น
เขาทั้งหลายจะบอกและแสดง
แก่ท่านถึงสิ่งที่องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า
ได้ทรงกระทำไว้!”

10.มีหมายสำคัญมากมาย
เช่นนี้ที่ได้ทรงกระทำ และทุก
แห่งที่เราร่วมเดินทางกับ
พระองค์ ล้วนเต็มไปด้วย
พระราชกิจและพระเกียรติ
ของพระองค์ เพราะไม่มีใครเสมอ
เหมือนพระองค์ ทั้งในสวรรค์
และในแผ่นดินโลก แต่พระองค์
ไม่ทรงปรารถนาให้เรากล่าว
มากถึงหมายสำคัญที่พระองค์
ได้ทรงกระทำเพื่อยืนยัน
ความจริงแห่งคำสอนของพระองค์
ซึ่งบัดนี้ท่านก็ได้รู้หัวใจสำคัญ
แล้ว เพราะหมายสำคัญเหล่านั้น
จะเก่าไปและสูญสลายในอนาคต
เช่นเดียวกับทุกสิ่งในโลกนี้
ที่เปลี่ยนแปลงและสูญสลายไป
และเมื่อเวลาผ่านไปหลายปี
เมื่อพวกเขาพูดถึงการอัศจรรย์
เหล่านี้ ผู้คนจะไม่เชื่อ ไม่
สามารถเข้าใจได้ แต่พระวจนะ
ของพระองค์จะไม่สูญไป
แต่ดำรงอยู่เป็นนิตย์ในฐานะ
ความจริงแห่งความจริงทั้งปวง
ในสวรรค์ทั้งหมด บนแผ่นดิน
โลก และในโลกวิญญาณอัน
ยิ่งใหญ่

11.ดังนั้น พระองค์จึงทรง
ประสงค์เพียงว่า พระวจนะ
ชีวิตนี้ ซึ่งถูกนำลงมาจาก
สวรรค์สู่โลก จะได้รับการ
ประกาศแก่มนุษย์ทั้งปวง
เพื่อพวกเขาจะได้รับความเชื่อ
ที่มีชีวิตในพระองค์ โดยการ
ดำเนินชีวิตตามพระวจนะนี้

12.หากผู้คนทำดังนี้ พวกเขา
จะถูกปลุกขึ้นและเสริมกำลัง
โดยพระองค์ จนสามารถใน
พระนามของพระองค์ กระทำ
หมายสำคัญได้ด้วยตนเอง
เหมือนที่เราก็ได้กระทำแล้ว
หลายครั้งในพระนามของ
พระองค์ โดยการวางมือเหนือ
ผู้เจ็บป่วยทั้งหลาย และเขา
ทั้งหลายก็กลับคืนสู่สุขภาพ
แข็งแรงอีกครั้ง หมายสำคัญนี้
จะมีประโยชน์แก่ท่านก็ต่อเมื่อ

13.หมายสำคัญเช่นนี้อาจถูก
นับว่าเป็นการอัศจรรย์ที่ยิ่งใหญ่
อย่างที่สุด หากผู้คนที่ได้เห็น
ด้วยตนเองไม่รู้จริงว่า ผู้ใดคือ
ผู้ทรงกระทำหมายสำคัญนั้น
แต่เมื่อผู้คนได้รู้จักพระองค์
แล้ว หมายสำคัญนั้นก็ไม่เป็น
การอัศจรรย์อีกต่อไป เพราะ
พวกเขาจะตระหนักว่า สำหรับ
พระเจ้า ผู้ทรงฤทธานุภาพ
เป็นนิตย์แล้ว ไม่มีสิ่งใดที่
เป็นไปไม่ได้

14.โลกนี้คืออะไร หากมิใช่
พระวจนะและพระประสงค์
ขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า อัน
เกิดจากความรักและพระ
ปัญญาของพระองค์? แล้ว
ดวงจันทร์ ดวงอาทิตย์ และ
ดวงดาวนับไม่ถ้วนทั้งหมด
ที่มีและบรรทุกสิ่งทั้งหลายอยู่
นั้นเล่า คืออะไร? ทั้งที่เรารู้
แน่ว่าพวกมันเป็นดวงฟ้า
เช่นกัน และส่วนใหญ่—ที่เรา
มองเห็นด้วยตาเปล่า—ก็มี
ขนาดใหญ่กว่าโลกที่บรรทุก
และเลี้ยงดูเราอยู่นี้อย่างไม่
อาจเทียบได้

15.หากเป็นไปได้สำหรับ
พระเจ้า องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า
แห่งนิรันดร์กาล ที่จะทรง
ทำให้พระราชกิจอันใหญ่ยิ่ง
เหล่านี้มีชีวิตขึ้นมาได้เพียง
โดยพระประสงค์ของพระองค์
ไม่ว่าจะในชั่วขณะเดียว หรือ
ในระยะเวลาที่ยาวนานตาม
ความรักและพระปัญญาของ
พระองค์แล้ว ก็จะเป็นสิ่งที่
ง่ายยิ่งกว่าสำหรับพระองค์
ที่จะทรงปกคลุมผืนดินที่
กันดารเล็กน้อยด้วยดินอุดม
โดยพระวจนะและพระประสงค์
ของพระองค์ และทรงให้ผลไม้
เจริญงอกงามขึ้นบนนั้นตาม
ธรรมชาติ ตามสภาพของ
แผ่นดินที่ถูกจัดตั้งไว้โดย
พระองค์

16. พวกราชสำนักโรมัน
ทั้งหลาย ผู้มีสติปัญญา
เฉลียวฉลาดและมีประสบการณ์
มากมาย ย่อมเข้าใจและ
ตระหนักสิ่งนี้ได้โดยง่าย
และเช่นกัน ท่านทั้งหลาย
ก็จะเข้าใจว่า สิ่งที่พระผู้เป็นเจ้า
ทรงกระทำมิใช่หมายสำคัญที่
สำคัญที่สุดแก่เรา แต่ว่าคือ
พระวจนะและคำสอนของ
พระองค์ ซึ่งเปิดเผยแก่เรา
เส้นทางสู่ชีวิตนิรันดร์ พระวจนะ
ที่ออกจากพระโอษฐ์ของ
พระเจ้า จึงเป็นทุกสิ่งทุกอย่าง
สำหรับเรา โดยพระวจนะ
นั้นเองที่เราจะดำรงอยู่และมี
ชีวิตเป็นนิตย์ และเราจะอยู่
ณ ที่ซึ่งพระองค์สถิต และ
เราจะกระทำพระราชกิจ
โดยพระวจนะและพระประสงค์
ของพระองค์ในเรา!”

17.เมื่อปุโรหิตได้ยินดังนี้จาก
สาวก เขากล่าวว่า “สหายเอ๋ย
ท่านได้ก้าวหน้าไกลแล้วใน
พระปัญญาของพระเจ้า และ
บัดนี้ ข้าพเจ้าไม่แปลกใจอีก
เลย ที่ท่านเหล่าสาวกดั้งเดิม
ขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า จึงไม่
ประหลาดใจมากเท่าเราคน
ต่างชาติ เมื่อได้เห็นการอัศจรรย์
อันยิ่งใหญ่ที่ไม่เคยมีมาก่อนนี้
แต่สิ่งที่ท่านบอกข้าพเจ้าใน
บัดนี้ ข้าพเจ้าจะจดจำราวกับว่า
องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าเองเป็น
ผู้ตรัส และข้าพเจ้าขอบคุณ
ท่านสำหรับมิตรภาพและความ
อดทนของท่าน”

18.หลังจากการสนทนานี้
ปุโรหิตก็กลับไปหาสหายของ
เขา และเล่าถึงสิ่งที่เขาได้ยิน
จากสาวกผู้มีนามว่า อันดรูว์
